valentine card and envelope
Making your own cards and envelopes is really simple and with so many beautiful scrap booking papers around, you can create your very own designs at a fraction of the cost of shop bought cards.
1. Print off the envelope template by clicking here and cut it out with sharp scissors. Turn your chosen envelope card or paper face down and trace around your template with a lead pencil. You can then cut out your envelope.
2. Fold the envelope according to the dotted lines I’ve shown on the template, then use a ruler or your thumb to firmly press along the folds.
Fold flap 1 over first, then using double sided tape*, stick flap 2 down on top of 1. Do the same for flap 3, sticking this on top of 1.
Keep the envelope flap at the top open until the card is inside, then it can be sealed.
3. Print off the template for the card by clicking here and cut it out with sharp scissors. Just like the envelope, turn you card or paper over and trace around your template with a lead pencil. You can then cut out your card and decorate as you like. I used scraps from the envelope card to create hearts, you’ll find the pattern for this on the motif template sheet, click here to download.
* Note: Double sided tape can be found in art and craft shops or newsagents. You can use craft or stick glue if you prefer.
