If your fridge is like mine over Christmas, full to over-flowing with food, there will be times when you’ll need to chill bottles in a hurry. This is a great idea I used last year and I promise, it really does work like magic:
To chill drinks quickly, place room temperature bottles into a bucket, tub or esky; add a layer of ice, followed by a layer of salt (table salt is fine). Repeat until you almost reach the top then pour over cold water to just below the ice line.
Because of the addition of salt, the water in the bucket will be colder than normal, chilling the drinks in less than 15 minutes!.
