choosing tiles
Hygiene is paramount in the bathroom, so tiling the floor and cladding the walls is a practical choice.
Glazed tiles are the most commonly used and come in a wide range of colours and styles. Affordable and relatively easy to lay, they will stand up well to harsh cleaning products
Porous surfaces like natural or composite stone are beautiful but my require more care and regular sealing for durability
When shopping for new tiles, I recommend avoiding stylised ‘fashion’ designs, bright colours and motifs as they can quickly date a bathroom. Consider introducing interest to the scheme by using brightly coloured accessories and natural textures instead
In terms of trends, tiles are becoming larger and while small mosaics still remain popular, the trend is to go for the largest format tiles you can find
QT quick tip:
Light coloured tiled walls and floors will make a bathroom seem larger, so to give the illusion of space I always recommend using colours from the natural palette
