A sofa or console table is long and narrow and can be used directly behind the sofa to place lamps, vases and magazines on.

Usually measuring only around 30cm deep, and running the full length of the sofa, most rooms can accommodate – and certainly benefit from one

Generously proportioned end or side tables allow extra surfaces in the living room for lamps, drinks, framed photographs, small artworks, and accessories.  Tables can be varied in size and style, but do use only a few to avoid the room appearing cluttered

These offer comfort as well as extra seating and come in a wide range of sizes and styles ranging from benches to cubes. Firm cushioned styles can also double as a coffee or occasional table, provided drinks are set down on a tray
